Overview

Gu̹nà Qûqu Kâchyâ was founded durring the late 12th century in spring of the year 1064, by Lucasaurus. The establishment of the new community went well, with no major obsticles durring construction.

Gu̹nà Qûqu Kâchyâ was built using the conventions of Rattu durring the late 12th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Gu̹nà Qûqu Kâchyâ is no diffrent. The city's buildings feature masoned stone construction which prominantly features pointed arches, pointed ribbed vault cielings, flying buttress', and window tracery all of which share a simmilar gemoetetic patern halfway between organic and inorganic in design formaing a very distinct aesthetically integrated style. BUildings tend to reach for the havens, and more expencive homes are easily identified by their floor count as well as the addition of decorative features intigrated into the building's design such as statues, gargoyals, and embelished joinery.

Gu̹nà Qûqu Kâchyâ is buildings are arranged arround a network of crampt baked earthen streets which form a grid, where each square verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller square has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The city rests behind a thick wall made from clay bricks. The wall has all of the proper fortifications and is well made. Unfortuantly the nature of clay brick leaves it quite vulnerable to siege equipment, though the thickness of the wall lends it simmilar resistnace to a thinner hardrock wall. The city's millitarily questionable fortifications are visibly old, but also obviously well maintained. Its likly the local malishia or garrison are tasked with routine mantance of the city's defences.

A look around Gu̹nà Qûqu Kâchyâ has something terribly wrong with it. It’s impossible to put one’s finger on, but something is horribly wrong. Maybe it’s the way fog blankets the ground, but only in the connors of places. Maybe it’s the vermin scutteling between shadows in the corner of your eyes. Perhaps it’s the overcast sky which seemed to creep out of nowhere, or the distant howling of wolves. Maybe it’s all of those things together, or perhaps it's the way these elements combine with the abundance of schools, libraries, and other academic structures. Locals can be overheard having academic discussions, as well as talking about scholarly subjects in general. It’s quite clear the city places a lot of value on education and being a learned individual. Regardless, you do not feel it would be wise to remain in Gu̹nà Qûqu Kâchyâ long.

The style's decorative features were largely internal rather than external and incorporated semicircular arches for windows, doors, and arcades; barrel or groin vaults to support the roof of the nave; massive piers and walls, with few windows, to contain the outward thrust of the vaults; side aisles with galleries above them..

Points of Interest

Gu̹nà Qûqu Kâchyâ is a major trade hub, connecting several important cities or resource production areas. It’s probably at an important river juncture, ancient crossroads, or occupying the only safe path through some perilous wilderness. Its position may be important enough that it can survive on trade alone, despite being unable to feed itself with the surrounding land. Such hubs are usually heavily garrisoned by the lord who profits from their tariffs and taxes.

Gu̹nà Qûqu Kâchyâ is known for its odd use of round-a-bouts, small ring roads used in place of intersections.

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century, Gu̹nà Qûqu Kâchyâ was attacked by savage selkiess living nearby. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Gu̹nà Qûqu Kâchyâ lost 232 people, 124 livestock, and 59 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 145, when members of Gu̹nà Qûqu Kâchyâ's militia enacted an operation to transport a specific resource to a particular port unharmed. The operation was complicated by a trusted officer who turned traitor and defects. The conflict ended with an assault and siege on the port, which ended in a stalemate for Gu̹nà Qûqu Kâchyâ's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Gu̹nà Qûqu Kâchyâ's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
